Basic Fire Safety Awareness

Introduction

This Fire Safety Training Course is designed to raise awareness of fire hazards in the workplace and how to act safely in the event of a fire emergency, providing employees with essential knowledge about fire safety, helping them to understand how to prevent a fire from starting and actions to be taken in an event of firebreak out.

Objectives

Participants attending this LAKESHORE ISL training will gain from:

• Describe the chemistry of fire
• Identify fire hazards in the workplace
• Procedures in the event of a fire
• Duties and responsibilities (of employers, employees and fire wardens)
• Actions to be taken in the event of a fire
• Evacuation procedures
• Select and use of appropriate firefighting equipment
• Fire risk management, including risk assessment
• Fire risk control measures (active and passive)
• Explain provisions for the fire brigade, vehicle access, water supplies and rising fire mains plan and prepare escape routes.
• Explain the duties of Fire Safety Co-ordinators
• Develop procedures and precautions that will reduce the risk of fire in the surrounding.
• Reporting fire safety issues
• Determine which aspects of Legislation apply and to what extent
